Heather Bailey Bag

A few months ago I made this Heather Bailey Saturday Market Bag. It's really a great bag. I took it along with me on our cruise and it made a great bag for Excursions and hanging out by the pool. I had some trouble with the handle technique she used in the pattern. But I want to make another one and master the technique.Pin It

Two weekends ago I made this bag. It's a great bag for a quick trip to the store or for a casual night out.

Amy Butler Swing Bag

After some frustration and 2 broken needles I'm finally finished with my latest project - The Amy Butler Swing Bag. It's a gift for my mother in law. I can't blame my frustration on the pattern because her gifts always cause me trouble. Not sure if it's because I want to make it perfect or if it's just the projects I pick for her.Pin It

I think overall it turned out well. I certainly learned some lessons on this project. I did not like that Amy has you close the bag up at the top on the curved area. It leaves open stitches visible when you close it up. I prefer to close my bags on the inside where it's not so visible. I will probably make this bag again but with my own twist!

A Rainy Christmas Eve Project....

We had a very rainy Christmas Eve this year. So I decided to make a last minute Christmas present for a family member. It's so nice to be sewing again!

It's Amy Butler's Frenchy bag. I hope she likes it!

P.S. Can't wait to share pics of my new sewing room in my new house! Pics coming soon still working on getting everything set up.

Girly Purse Birthday Present

This weekend I attended a party for a super cute little girl's 2nd birthday. She loves Dora so I made her this cute little purse:
Her mom says that it will be used to take to church on Sundays! Here is a family picture that includes the beautiful little birthday girl.
Her Mom and Dad are good friends of ours.

To make this bag I used the Charmed Gift Bag pattern from Kim Walus for Moda Bake Shop. I tweaked the pattern to make it bigger. I used 12 1/2 by 9 1/2 inch pieces for the main body of the purse instead of what the pattern suggested.

I took the class at Quilters Crossing in Tomball with Margaret Grice. She is such a great teacher and made this bag easy for a bag beginner! I'm excited to take more classes from her and at Quilters Crossing. If you live in the Houston area check out their website here, they have some really great classes!
